Manage Multiple Lot Codes in One Step

Posted on March 24, 2026 by

We’ve made it easier to enter and adjust inventory in ReciPal. You can now assign multiple lot codes to an inventory item all within one transaction.

Lot tracing is critical for food manufacturers. It helps you stay compliant with regulations like FSMA 204, prepare for audits, and respond quickly if a recall is ever needed. ReciPal’s inventory management is built to make lot tracing a seamless part of your day-to-day operations.

What’s New

In one entry you can now update multiple lots of the same ingredient. Previously, each lot required a separate entry. There also wasn’t a way to reset your total inventory and adjust individual lot quantities at the same time.

We heard from users that they often receive multiple lots of an ingredient in a single delivery and needed a faster way to log them. This update does exactly that.

How It Works

Add Lots

Adding or subtracting lots

  • Hover to the right of the lot field and click the “+” to add another lot
  • Use the “X” to remove any extra fields

A couple important notes:

  • When adding inventory, each entry creates a new lot (even if you use the same name)
    • To add to an existing lot, use the ingredient detail page or perform an inventory reset
  • When subtracting inventory, the lot field will pre-fill with existing lots (since you can only subtract from what already exists)

Smarter Inventory Resets

Inventory resets are now more powerful. Before, resets only updated the total inventory amount. If you needed accurate lot counts, it required a second step.

Now, you can:

  • View all existing lots and their quantities
  • Adjust each lot directly during the reset
  • Have your total inventory automatically match the sum of your lots

Reset by lots

If you’re short on time, you can still do a quick total reset. But when accuracy matters, everything can now be handled in one place.

Why This Matters

At a basic level, this update reduces steps and saves time. And when processes are easier, they’re more likely to get done consistently. Aside from saving time, this update helps you more easily identify and reconcile discrepancies.

We’re also adding the option to require lot codes for all inventory adjustments. We know every business operates differently so we let you tailor ReciPal settings to fit your workflow.

We’d Love Your Feedback

We’re continuing to invest in making ReciPal the best lot tracing tool for food businesses. Every improvement is shaped by conversations with our users.

If you have ideas or feedback on how we can make lot tracking even better, we’d love to hear from you.
