Commenting on Recipe History

Posted on November 21, 2025 by

ReciPal’s recipe history has always made it easy to track changes and revert to earlier versions. Now, with our new commenting feature, you can add context to every update and help your team collaborate more effectively.

Comment Feature

What’s New

You can now attach comments directly to any line item in your recipe’s history. Each comment includes who made it and when it was added, and you can edit or delete comments at any time.

  • Add comments to any history entry
  • See the author and timestamp of each comment
  • Edit or delete comments as needed
  • Quickly identify entries with comments via a filled comment bubble and a comment count

How to Add a Comment

  1. Open your recipe and go to the History tab.
  2. Find the line item you want to comment on.
  3. Click the comment bubble next to it.
  4. Type your note and click Add Comment.

If a history item already has comments, the comment bubble will be filled in and show the number of comments in parentheses so it’s easy to spot.

Why This Matters

Adding comments turns your recipe history into a collaborative tool that gives your whole team clarity and confidence:

  • Better communication: Explain why changes were made right alongside the change itself.
  • Fewer mistakes: Reduce duplicate updates and avoid overwriting someone else’s work.
  • Preserved knowledge: Capture reasoning, experiments, and best practices for future reference.

ReciPal’s recipe history already provided a seamless way to track and revert changes. With comments, you now get the full story behind every update — helping teams work smarter and stay aligned.

About Jack Scotti

Jack Scotti ReciPal

Jack Scotti is the director of marketing at ReciPal. Prior to joining the team he was a founder of Story2, an edtech company that teaches people how to advocate for themselves through the neuroscience of storytelling. One of the first activities in any Story2 workshop was to share a memorable meal story. So even before working in the food industry, he got to experience the amazing way food connects us all. (Ask him about his family’s feast of the 7 fishes or only eating ravioli in multiples of four.) Now, he couldn’t be more excited to help food business create more dinner table memories.
