Nutrition Labels, Allergens, Ingredient Lists - Together at Last

Posted on April 03, 2014 by

We created ReciPal because we found nutrition labeling to be a particularly annoying aspect of starting a food business and wanted to make it simpler. And for a long time we stuck with just the nutrition labels.

But there are actually a number of (6 to be exact) required sections of a food label, some of which are supposed to be included alongside the nutrition facts. These are the ingredient list, allergen statement, and business name and address.

Intelligent Defaults

We want to make the whole process as easy and intuitive as possible. On top of that, we want our interface to make it clear what's required on your label so you don’t leave it out. This is part of our approach of having smart defaults. Plus, we got more than a few requests to be able to print the ingredient list together with the nutrition label.

New Label Printing Options

Now, instead of having to save your nutrition fact label and ingredient list separately, you can save and print them together.

We didn’t stop there though. The other two sections that are meant to be on the same part of your label as the nutrition fact panel, as mentioned above, are the allergens and manufacturing address - as you can see below.

This is all managed through a new menu on the label page where you can add and remove these additional sections as you see fit.

You can even check out how it works with our sample label.

Better Nutrition Label Software

This is a small addition to our nutrition label software that we think will go a long way toward simplifying your life as a food entrepreneur.

Our defaults make it clear what is required on your food label and what the options are. Not everyone knows that you have to include a list of allergens on your packaging, but it should be abundantly clear when you get to your label and see the allergen options. Same thing for the manufacturing address.

We hope you find it as useful as we have already. Comments, questions, feedback? Leave them in the comments below or email us as always.
