Nutrition Labels for Beverages - Juices, Sodas, and Drinks

ReciPal was initially designed to scratch my own itch - making nutrition labels for my jerky company. It turned out that some of the process was a little too focused on food. And we don't want to leave all the beverage makers hanging like that.

So we finally made some changes to accommodate all the awesome folks using ReciPal to make nutrition labels for their juices, cocktail mixes, and sodas.

Recipe Yield Changes

The change itself is pretty small, and actually makes the recipe creation process simpler for everyone.

Instead of entering your full recipe yield, which was kind of confusing (particularly because it had to be in grams), now you enter your per package net weight (or net volume for beverages).

Yield is now per package and has multiple units, mL and fluid ounces included.

It's simpler to think in terms of each package instead of a large batch. Plus, you can enter that net contents in grams, ounces, milliliters, or fluid ounces. Those are the most common measures that are listed on food and drink packaging, but we can also add others if you think they'll help.

What it Means for Beverages

This won't actually affect the nutrition values of your recipe, but the serving size line at the very beginning of the nutrition label will now intelligently change based on what you chose as your package net weight.

And voila - beverage friendly nutrition labels.

If you choose ounces or grams, we'll display the serving size in grams. If you choose fluid ounces or milliliters, we'll display the serving size in mL, which should make nutrition labeling for beverages a bit easier and more clear.
