New Feature - Scaling by Package Size

Posted on April 15, 2024 by

We just added a feature that lets you scale your recipes by package size. This functionality is a nice time saver if you have any products that you offer in a variety of sizes. Now with just a couple of clicks you can create all the packaging options you need.

For example, let’s say you have a seasoning blend that you sell in a variety of sizes - 4 oz, 8oz, and 16 oz. You start by setting the recipe for your 4 oz seasoning blend.

4 oz Spice Blend

Now, you can easily scale this recipe to any other packaging sizes you want to offer. From the top navigation select "More" and then "Scale". Then choose the option to scale by “Package size.” Next, enter the size of the package you want to create (we’ll use 8 oz.). Scaling by package size updates the number of packages and servings based on the new package size, keeping all the ingredient quantities the same.

That's it! In under 10 seconds you now have an 8 oz variation with the updated packages and servings per container.

There’s also still the option to scale your recipe by the batch size. In this case, the ingredients, packages, and associated costs all get multiplied by the variable you select.

As always, we’re building features based on user feedback so we’d love to hear what you think about this and what else would be helpful to you.
