Hiding Nutrition Fact Panel from Label Download

Posted on April 19, 2024 by

We just added a feature that allows users to hide the nutrition fact panel when customizing their label download. While this is a small update, the functionality can be quite useful.

We imagined people would always want the NFP included in their label download. However, over the years we've received a good amount of feedback asking if there was a way to download only specific sections, like the ingredient statement. In the past, the answer was that it couldn't be separated and you had to do that outside of ReciPal. Now, you can choose to hide or show any of the label sections. To get rid of the NFP, just check "Hide nutrition facts" from the label selections dropdown. This action will hide the NFP from the preview and it will not show up when you download the label either.

Hide NFP

Why hide the nutrition fact panel?

Even though most people use our software to create NFPs there are a couple of reasons why you might want to hide it. First, not all food products require NFPs. So for people using ReciPal primarily to store their recipes and create the other elements of the information panel, this gives them a way to download just the parts they need. Further, even if the food product requires an NFP sometimes you just need to send a portion of the label to a stakeholder, so this lets you keep it focused.

Second, while there can't be any intervening material between the elements of the information panel (NFP, ingredient statement, allergen declaration, business name/address), those elements do not need to appear linearly. So you could place the ingredient statement to the side of the nutrition fact panel to better serve the real estate of your packaging. Having each element downloadable on its own makes it easier to rearrange the puzzle pieces to best fit your needs.

As always, we’re building features based on user feedback so we’d love to hear what you think about this and what else would be helpful to you.
