Seeing Recipes With A Particular Ingredient

Posted on June 30, 2015 by

Every once in a while you'll change an ingredient wholesale across all your recipes. Maybe you were using one flour and you're switching over to another that is better priced, more nutritious, fewer additives, or any number of other reasons.

If you had many recipes it might be a little annoying to find each recipe that had that ingredient and switch them out. We've certainly had to do that before, and a more than a few of our customers had to as well, so we tried to make it a little easier on everyone by allowing you to view all your recipes that have a particular ingredient.

Introducing Recipe Lists for Ingredients

We actually had this feature internally within ReciPal already, so this was a natural extension for regular users. If you're looking at the nutrition/preview page for a specific ingredient you'll see a button (as in the image below) that takes you to a page with all your recipes that have it.

All recipes with a particular ingredient

On the ingredient page you can click this button to see all your recipes related to that ingredient.

Of course, other users won't have access to this list and it will only list your recipes. From that page (see screenshot below) you'll see the list as well as links to view the label or edit the recipe. Hopefully that makes it plenty easy to understand your ingredients and swap them out when needed without having to hunt everything down. It might also help ensure your recipes use consistent ingredients across them.

Once you're looking at all the recipes with that ingredient, you can quickly go to view the label or edit the recipe.

Parting Words

This is not a huge addition, but should help folks out during the otherwise annoying process of swapping out ingredients and creating new nutrition labels for your products.

Let us know what you think and if you've had a chance to try it out!
