ReciPal Students Earn Gold Medal

Posted on February 03, 2014 by

As a business you try to build a great product, usually for a specific group of users. But, people are incredibly creative and find use cases beyond what you initially imagined.

ReciPal started as a simpler and more affordable approach to nutrition analysis and labeling, specifically for food businesses. But over time we've seen more and more students using it - for nutrition classes, culinary schools, and more.

The Gold Medal Email

Recently, we got an exciting email from a user after we asked what she was using ReciPal for and we got this response:

Actually, I am a high school culinary arts teacher. A student of mine was creating a nutrition facts label for a project she was working on. Thanks for such a nifty and helpful application! It was a big help on her project and she won a gold medal!

Peanut Butter & Jelly Muffins

Naturally, we had to learn more about the project, which as it turned out was called "Peanut Butter & Jelly Muffins". These girls did quite a bit of research that all food entrepreneurs can learn from - creating a recipe, getting feedback from different users, generating nutrition analysis, costing out their recipe to see if it was affordable for their target market, tracking supplies and safety issues, refining the recipe based on initial feedback, and going back for even more feedback.

We were quite impressed here at ReciPal and wanted to share these future food entrepreneurs' project. Below you'll find a few photos of the project and dynamic duo of a team.
